Note — This chapter was written using ChatGPT. I was listening to the audiobook of Half Blood Prince and was intrigued as to how Lupin came back into the fold and work at the school. As a werewolf he would’ve been downtrodden, so Dumbledore would have shown great courage employing him.

It was a warm summer evening, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the trees surrounding a small, modest cottage tucked away in the English countryside. Remus Lupin sat on his porch, a cup of tea in his hand, lost in thought. The years since the tragic events at Godric’s Hollow had taken their toll on him, with the loss of his friends and the ongoing prejudice against werewolves leaving him feeling isolated and despondent.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow across the landscape, a familiar figure appeared on the winding path leading to the cottage. Albus Dumbledore, with his flowing robes and unmistakable silver beard, approached with a warm smile and a determined glint in his eyes.
“Good evening, Remus,” Dumbledore greeted, his voice gentle but firm. “May I join you?”
Lupin, surprised by the unexpected visit, nodded and gestured to the empty chair beside him. As Dumbledore took a seat, he gazed intently at the younger man, taking in the lines of worry etched into his face.

You have suffered many losses and faced considerable prejudice due to your lycanthropy. I believe it is time for a change, an opportunity for you to use your talents and knowledge for the betterment of others.”
Lupin looked at Dumbledore, his curiosity piqued. “What are you suggesting, Professor?”
Dumbledore leaned forward, his eyes shining with conviction. “I am offering you the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I have no doubt that you possess the skills, wisdom, and compassion necessary to excel in this role, and to provide a guiding hand to the next generation of witches and wizards.”
For a moment, Lupin was speechless, his mind reeling from the unexpected proposition. He hesitated, his thoughts clouded by doubt and uncertainty. “Albus, I am honored, but I am a werewolf. Surely the parents and the Ministry would never allow it.”
Dumbledore raised a hand, silencing Lupin’s protests. “I have taken the necessary precautions to ensure your condition will be managed discreetly. A supply of Wolfsbane Potion will be provided for you, and I will personally vouch for your character. The time has come for you to step out of the shadows and embrace the opportunities that await you, Remus.”
As the weight of Dumbledore’s words settled upon him, Lupin felt a spark of hope ignite within his chest. The prospect of returning to Hogwarts, of finding purpose and connection within its hallowed halls, was both daunting and exhilarating.
With a deep breath, Lupin extended his hand to Dumbledore, a resolute determination shining in his eyes. “I accept your offer, Professor. Thank you for believing in me.”
As their hands clasped in agreement, the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow upon the path that lay ahead. For Remus Lupin, the offer of the Defense Against the Dark Arts position marked the beginning of a new chapter, a chance to overcome the darkness of his past and embrace the light that awaited him within the halls of Hogwarts.
